Whoops....it's been a while since my last blog....not much has happened since then except for all the things that's going on in the news....nationally, and internationally....for one....I never wrote about it, but a NOVA teacher was murdered here in Japan....she lived in Chiba....apparently it was one of her private students...one that didn't attend NOVA. The suspected killer is still on the loose....Don Imus has been fired for calling women on the Rutgers University Basketball Team, "nappy headed hoes." ....this incident has sparked a big dialogue.....I think it's good that people are talking now about the mysogeny of women, especially Black women....people tend to blame it all on hip hop, however, that phrase didn't originate in the hip hop community....it originated during slavery....let's keep it real. I'm not in no way saying that the hip hop culture should not take any responsibility for some of the horrible denegrating images it portrays, but I don't think the hip hop culture should be the scapegoat. The other big news was the biggest mass killing/murder in US history at Virginia Tech.....when I heard about it, I called home because my brother goes to VSU...Virginia State University....and I didn't know how close in proximity the two schools were. Apparently they're roughly 2 hours away from each other....it's an extremely sad moment in time....I pray for the families of the victims, and even for the killer's family.....the agony they must be going through right now is probably almost unbearable....and people want answers, like, why was the response so slow to the students with the 1st set of murders? Apparently the killer murdered 2 or 4 people earlier, and many students are saying that they were not notified until an hour or two later, however the second set of murders happened soon after that, and they were saying that it could have possibly been prevented if people knew that the killer was still on the loose...they could have shut down the campus. And furthermore, the war is still going on in the Middle East, and genocide is still taking place in Darfur....this world needs some serious prayer.....
On another note.....I responded to an add in the Metropolis, the most popular English magazine in Japan....the add called for people who sing gospel or who want to sing gospel....I'm going to my first rehearsal tommorow....I'm excited about it.....well I'm going to go now, I think I'm going to try and work some overtime early in the day tommorow....
.....until next blog,
K
