July 13, 2007- Friday
I just realized that it was Friday the 13th.....ha, ha.....I'm not superstitious though....the other day it was 7-7-7, and some people called it the luckiest day of the millenium....I do believe that number is significant, but I don't believe in luck....anyway, what's new? Well, I recently had a serious scare.....On Tuesday at work I had to be rushed to the hospital because of severe stomach cramping, etc.....My stomach was actually irritated the night before, but it wasn't so bad, and that morning I was okay....by 2pm I started feeling a little irritation in my stomach again, so I went to the store to get some cranberry juice. I had to teach at a kids branch that day....anyway, I went to the branch and during my first class period, everything went wrong...luckily I only had one kinder to teach and he didn't show up himself because he had a stomach ache. I was bent over crying....it kept coming and going, coming and going.....I went to the hospital and they ran blood work and took an x-ray and said I had an enflammed upper intestine......it's caused by a virus or a bacteria and they ruled out virus, so there was some kind of bacteria in something I ate that caused it......it could have been delayed from China......who knows? Anyway, I'm on antibiotics now. I go to South Korea next week so I'm truly excited about that....I pray I don't get sick there.
Moving on, tonight I had dinner with some Japanese friends and their family and we went to a restaurant in Higashi-Kanagawa.....we had soba, which is a type of noodle.....anywyay, this was quite an experience because it was like an eating contest, and Lord knows I don't need to eat too much.....but the lady who served us put a teaspoon/tablespoon of soba into our bowls and we had to eat it quickly....she would refill it everytime we finished...the object was to place a marble next to our bowls after every five bowls we ate.....one guy, Hiroyuki, ate over 100 bowls....but really teaspoons/tablespoons.....I had a measily 35....I couldn't hang....it was fun though....I made a video of it, but unfortunately I can't upload videos to this blog.....Well, it's late and I need to sleep so,
.....until next blog,
K
